Meet the Volunteers

Nani volunteers in Vincent’s charity shop in Westside. Her role normally is helping at the back of the shop, receiving donations, sorting clothes, pricing, steaming clothes, filling the shop with new items like clothes, shoes, accessories, etc.

Shakeel Ahmed volunteers with the Galway Anti-Racism Network. His duty as Cultural Member is duty is to motivate the community and the public about culture by telling them about food, dance and much more.

Trish volunteers with the ‘Big Brother, Big Sister’ programme. She has had a little sister since August 2017 and every week for a couple of hours does some fun activities such as baking, art, going to the cinema, going for hot chocolate, window shopping, board games etc.

Jessica volunteers with Look Good Feel Better. Once a month she holds a makeup workshop in the hospital for patients who are undergoing chemotherapy or just starting their treatment. For Jessica, this volunteering gives a feeling that money cannot buy!

Fintan volunteers to keep a good Work-Life balance. He was no longer travelling so much with his work and wanted to get off the couch; to get out and meet people.

The sense of achievement and the sense of helping keeps Maggie volunteering. She volunteers for a 4 hour shift, once a week with Childline.

Cindy volunteers as an IT Tutor with Age Action tutoring older people in how to use their electronic devices. Classes are held once per week, 2 hours per class, for a 5 week course series.

Aylin Potthoff volunteers as a Forensic Accompaniment Officer with CARI. Originally from Germany, she began volunteering when she heard about the great work this organisation does with children who are victims of sexual abuse.
